I had this product for many years until it froze up. Using newer Canon printers (those with the five ink containers) only added to the cost of replacing ink - expensive! Refilling cartridges became necessary. But Canon (and other makers) put a chip into the cartridges. Now cartridges really cost one to replace. Refilling chip cartridges worked, but necessitated a procedure of snapping them into the printing head before every print job. Bummer. So I searched for my old buddy, the i850, with four ink tanks and no chips. I found three for sale on Amazon. Choosing one, I ordered it. To my surprise, the seller lived a few miles away, called me and delivered it in person.
The Canon i850 is a gem. Once calibrated, the text is sharp and the colors are beautiful, just as I remembered them, photographs included. Speed? Fast enough for me. This is one printer that I will have repaired if it ever fails. It's a keeper. Five stars.
